Triana Maciel: from Guadalajara to Tablao 1911

She dances in the oldest tablao in the world and directs the oldest flamenco school in Mexico.

At sixteen she won her first choreography prize and came to Spain. Today Triana Maciel divides her life between Spanish stages and the direction of Las Cabales, the most traditional flamenco school in Mexico, where she herself began to dance.

She trained in Guadalajara and has passed through the great tablaos of Madrid, Barcelona and Granada. She has shared the stage with Antonio Canales, Farruquito, Jesús Carmona and Nino de los Reyes, and was part of the Ballet Español de la Comunidad de Madrid and of the companies of José Porcel and Clara Ramona.

Her record of awards confirms it: first prize in the Villa Rosa dance competition —this very stage—, first prize at the Ibérica Contemporánea Choreography Competition and second prize at Tablao Las Carboneras.

She dances with the technique of someone who teaches and the freedom of someone who crossed an ocean to do it.
