The Cante de las Minas arrives at Tablao Flamenco 1911 in Madrid

On July 11 at 4:00 PM, Tablao Flamenco 1911 hosts one of the qualifying rounds of the 64th International Cante de las Minas Festival.
A unique encounter with the most authentic flamenco art.

On July 11, the iconic Tablao Flamenco 1911 (formerly Villarosa), located in the heart of Madrid’s Barrio de las Letras, will host one of the qualifying rounds of the 64th International Festival of Cante de las Minas, the most prestigious flamenco competition in the world.

This preliminary round will bring together seven top-level artists, selected to compete in the categories of cante (singing), guitar, and flamenco dance, all hoping to reach the semifinals to be held in La Unión (Murcia).

Confirmed participants:

Cante (Singing):

  • Jesús León Márquez (Mairena del Alcor, Seville)

  • Gregorio Moya Lara (Argamasilla de Alba, Ciudad Real)

  • José Plantón Heredia “José el Calli” (Córdoba)

Guitar:

  • Kerem Can Ozpekel

  • Adrián Grande Rubio

  • Mercedes Snaguioo Horneras “Mercedes Luján”

Dance:

  • Fabiola Vanadia (Argentina)

Among them stands out José El Calli, a regular cantaor in the artistic cast of Tablao Flamenco 1911, who was awarded in the previous edition of the festival for his performance of the seguiriya.

A top-level jury

The jury will be made up of leading figures in the flamenco world:

  • Eduardo Guerrero, bailaor

  • Juan Parrilla, instrumentalist

  • Kyoko Shikaze, specialized journalist

  • José Manuel Gamboa and Francisco Paredes, flamenco experts
