Special Song

  • What is it?

In this issue you will be able to listen to the most current flamenco from the hand of our artistic director, Laura Abadía.

  • Why is it used?

This performance highlights the importance that has had in recent decades the fusion of flamenco with other music such as those from Latin America or jazz. This style of songs is currently very popular and positions Madrid as the epicenter of flamenco fusion as a meeting point for numerous artists. Among its neighborhoods is Caño Roto, famous for being the place where the sound of groups such as Las Grecas, Los Chorbos, Los Chichos or Los Chunguitos was born, of which this special song is heir.

  • Thematic

This is a medley of different songs that are based on the aesthetic-musical codes of flamenco or that our artists adapt to them. These versions are known as “canciones aflamencadas”, that is to say, songs that become flamenco. The themes of the lyrics are very varied, ranging from heartbreak to references to the gypsy party.
