Carmen Young

Carmen was born in Aguascalientes, Mexico. She began her dance studies at the Academia Flamenco Vive in Aguascalientes. Since the age of eight she has taken courses with Cristobal Reyes, with whom she studied in Madrid in 2001. She has continued her studies in Madrid and Seville, participating in festivals and other presentations as a guest artist.

Her main teachers are Antonio and Manuel Reyes, Javier Barón, Luisa Palicio, Milagros Mengíbar, Juana Amaya, Choro Molina, Mercedes de Córdoba and Lucía “La Piñona. At the age of 18 she was a repeater of the master Cristóbal Reyes in his 2011 tours in courses in various states of Mexico. She was the winner of the scholarship for studies abroad granted by the Cultural Institute of Aguascalientes through the State Fund for Culture and the Arts, FECA 2012-2013.

She was principal dancer in the company of María Juncal Bailamos Flamenco performing in the theater of Mexico City. She has participated in the cycle “Flamencos y Mestizos” solo and with Antonio Molina “El Choro”, directed by Paco Ortega, and in Jerez where she was a soloist in the XX Festival de Jerez with the show “Eclosión” of the Cristina Heeren Foundation and as a dancer and understudy in “Flamenconautas”, directed by Javier Latorre in the XXII Festival de Jerez.

She currently lives in Seville where she works in different tablaos as a soloist dancer combining her performances in the city of Madrid.
