And at <strong data-start=\"539\" data-end=\"563\">Tablao Flamenco 1911<\/strong>, we believe that to truly feel it, you first need to understand the wound it comes from.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"654\" data-end=\"708\">The Origin of Cante Jondo: A Lament Turned into Art<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"710\" data-end=\"1072\">The name is no lie: <em data-start=\"730\" data-end=\"737\">jondo<\/em> comes from <em data-start=\"749\" data-end=\"756\">hondo<\/em> \u2014 \u201cdeep.\u201d Its origin isn\u2019t academic or formal. It was born in the streets, in the soil, in persecution, love, and death.<br data-start=\"877\" data-end=\"880\" \/>It\u2019s the echo of centuries of history from the Andalusian-Gypsy people \u2014 a unique blend of Byzantine laments, Jewish psalms, and Arabic melodies.
